The new trailer for the ‘Game of Thrones’ prequel ‘A KNIGHT OF THE SEVEN KINGDOMS’ has been released. Premiering January 18 on HBO.

Here’s the English summary of the trailer and reactions:

  • The first trailer for A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms (the upcoming Game of Thrones prequel) has been released.
  • It’s set about 90–100 years before the events of Game of Thrones, focuses on Ser Duncan the Tall (“Dunk”) and his squire Egg (a young Aegon V Targaryen), and is adapted from George R.R. Martin’s three “Dunk and Egg” novellas.
  • The tone is noticeably lighter and more adventurous than the original GoT series—no dragons, less brutality, more knightly tournaments, chivalry, and humor. Many are comparing its vibe to the 2001 film A Knight’s Tale.
  • Release date: Summer 2025 on HBO and Max (not January 2026 as some early reports mistakenly said).
  • Fan reactions on X are mixed:
    • Positive side: people love the bright, fun, medieval-road-trip energy, Peter Claffey’s casting as Dunk, and the fact that it looks faithful to the books.
    • Critical side: some hardcore GoT fans feel it looks “too Disney” or “not grimdark enough,” and are already complaining that it doesn’t feel like the same universe.
Overall, it’s shaping up to be a very different flavor of Westeros—one that’s more about hedge knights and honor than dragons and backstabbing.
