One of my favourite videos of all time is this Edmonton police dog that had enough time to play in the snow before catching the bad guy

The video shared by Bryan Passifiume (a national politics reporter for the Toronto Sun) is one of his all-time favorites: an Edmonton Police Service K9 unit chasing a suspect through deep snow back in December 2020.

In the clip, the police dog (a German Shepherd) is in hot pursuit but can't resist a quick detour—he dives headfirst into a snowbank, rolls around playfully for a few seconds (tail wagging wildly), then shakes it off and immediately resumes the chase, catching and apprehending the suspect without missing a beat. The post, shared as a fun nostalgic throwback, has gone viral again (over 100k likes, 2.8M views, and thousands of reposts/bookmarks as of now). Viewers love the dog's "work hard, play hard" attitude—many comments highlight how the tail wagging shows the exact switch from "play mode" to "duty mode," with jokes like "Don't worry guys, I've got him... but first snow!" or "He's just flexing on the perp."It's a wholesome reminder of how even highly trained police dogs are still dogs at heart. The original incident was from a real pursuit in Edmonton, and the video has been circulating (and delighting people) for years!
