(a prominent MAGA supporter with over 1 million followers) celebrates President Trump's announcement on December 16, 2025, of an expanded travel ban.Key Details of the PolicyThis is an official expansion of the travel restrictions originally reinstated in June 2025 (building on Trump's first-term policies, which were upheld by the Supreme Court).- Full travel bans now apply to nationals of Burkina Faso, Mali, Niger, South Sudan, and Syria, as well as individuals holding or traveling on Palestinian Authority-issued documents.
- Partial restrictions (enhanced vetting, limited visa categories) were added for 15 additional countries, mostly in Africa: Angola, Antigua and Barbuda, Benin, Côte d'Ivoire, Dominica, Gabon, The Gambia, Malawi, Mauritania, Nigeria, Senegal, Tanzania, Tonga, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.
- The total brings the number of countries with full or partial restrictions to around 39.
- Exceptions include lawful permanent residents (green card holders), certain visa categories, and cases deemed in the U.S. national interest.
- Persistent deficiencies in vetting and information-sharing.
- High visa overstay rates.
- Corruption.
- Unreliable identity documents.
- Active terrorist threats in some regions.
- A recent incident involving an Afghan national attacking National Guard members was mentioned as a contributing factor.
