Colombian authorities rescued 17 children from the Jewish Lev Tahor sect during a raid at a hotel, amid allegations of child abuse, kidnapping, forced marriages, pregnancies, and child trafficking

- Colombian immigration authorities rescued 17 children belonging to the Lev Tahor ultra-Orthodox Jewish sect from a hotel in Yarumal, Antioquia.

- The children hold citizenship from the United States, Guatemala, and Canada. Five of them were on Interpol’s Yellow Notice list due to human trafficking risks.

- Lev Tahor has faced repeated allegations of child abuse, forced marriages, and kidnappings since at least 2013. Previous raids in Canada, Mexico, Guatemala, and elsewhere have led to the rescue of more than 200 children over the years (reported by AP, Reuters, and other outlets).

- Video of the operation shows Colombian military and immigration officials conducting the raid. Sect members were detained for immigration violations.

- The incident has raised new suspicions of an international trafficking network linked to the group.
